.404" Chainsaw Rim Sprocket 8 Tooth Standard 7 Spline – LN13313
Dimensions: od=45mm, id=22.5mm, 9.25mm thick
Professional quality .404" pitch 8-tooth chainsaw rim sprocket designed for chainsaws using a Standard 7 Spline (SD7) clutch drum system.
Manufactured from tough, wear-resistant steel for excellent durability, smooth chain operation and reliable power transfer from the chainsaw engine to the saw chain.
The floating rim sprocket design allows the saw chain to naturally align with the guide bar groove, helping provide smoother operation and more even wear across the chain, sprocket and guide bar.
The 8-tooth configuration provides increased chain speed compared with a standard .404" 7-tooth rim sprocket, making it particularly suited to large, high-powered professional chainsaws where additional chain speed is desired.
Ideal for professional forestry, large timber cutting, chainsaw milling and other demanding applications.

WHY CHOOSE AN 8-TOOTH .404" RIM SPROCKET?
Compared with a 7-tooth .404" sprocket, an 8-tooth sprocket moves more chain for each revolution of the clutch drum.
This provides higher chain speed, which can improve cutting performance when used on a chainsaw with sufficient engine power.
The trade-off is that increasing the sprocket tooth count reduces the mechanical advantage available at the chain. For this reason, an 8-tooth .404" sprocket is best suited to powerful professional chainsaws capable of pulling the taller gearing effectively.
For chainsaws working particularly hard in large timber, or where maximum pulling power is more important than chain speed, a 7-tooth sprocket may be the better choice.
WHY USE A RIM SPROCKET?
A rim sprocket transfers power from the chainsaw clutch drum to the saw chain.
The replaceable rim floats slightly on the clutch drum spline, allowing the chain to naturally align with the guide bar groove. Oregon notes that this type of system can provide smoother cutting and reduced chain wear compared with a spur sprocket.
This design helps provide:
✅ Smooth Chain Operation
✅ Improved Chain & Guide Bar Alignment
✅ More Even Sprocket Wear
✅ Reduced Saw Chain Wear
✅ Reliable Power Transfer
The rim can also be replaced independently of the complete clutch drum, provided the existing drum remains serviceable.
.404" 7 TOOTH OR 8 TOOTH?
7 Tooth:
Provides lower gearing with greater pulling ability and is the standard choice for many .404" chainsaw applications.
8 Tooth:
Provides higher chain speed and is generally better suited to larger, high-powered chainsaws capable of maintaining RPM under load.
If changing from a 7-tooth to an 8-tooth sprocket, always ensure your chainsaw has sufficient power for the application.
IMPORTANT FITMENT INFORMATION
This sprocket is specifically designed for .404" pitch chainsaw chain and a Standard 7 Spline (SD7) clutch drum.
Before ordering, check your existing rim sprocket and confirm:
• Pitch – .404"
• Tooth Count – 8 Tooth
• Spline – Standard 7 Spline (SD7)
• Cross Reference – Oregon 13313
The sprocket pitch must match the saw chain and guide bar nose sprocket pitch.
Some chainsaws can also be configured with 3/8" pitch or different clutch drum systems, so always check the components actually fitted to your saw rather than relying solely on the chainsaw model.
If you're unsure whether this rim sprocket suits your chainsaw, contact Longer Chainsaws with your chainsaw make and model before ordering.
