.404" Chainsaw Rim Sprocket 7 Tooth Standard 7 Spline – LN22270
Dimensions: od=38.7mm, id=22.5mm, 7.85mm thick
Professional quality .404" pitch 7-tooth chainsaw rim sprocket designed for chainsaws using a Standard 7 Spline (SD7) clutch drum system.
Manufactured from tough, wear-resistant steel for exceptional durability, smooth chain operation and reliable power transfer from the chainsaw engine to the saw chain.
The floating rim sprocket design allows the chain to naturally align with the guide bar groove, helping provide smoother cutting and more even wear across the saw chain, sprocket and guide bar.
The .404" pitch 7-tooth configuration is commonly used on larger, high-powered professional chainsaws operating .404" chain, making this an ideal replacement rim for forestry, large timber cutting, milling and other demanding applications.

WHY USE A RIM SPROCKET?
A rim sprocket provides the connection between the chainsaw clutch drum and saw chain.
Unlike a fixed spur sprocket, the replaceable rim floats slightly on the splined clutch drum, allowing the saw chain to naturally align with the guide bar groove.
This design helps provide:
✅ Smoother Chain Operation
✅ Improved Chain-to-Bar Alignment
✅ More Even Sprocket Wear
✅ Reduced Saw Chain Wear
✅ Longer Guide Bar & Drive Component Life
The replaceable rim design also means the sprocket rim can be changed without replacing the complete clutch drum, provided the existing drum remains serviceable.
WHEN SHOULD I REPLACE MY RIM SPROCKET?
The chainsaw rim sprocket is a wear component and should be inspected regularly.
Over time, the chain drive links wear grooves into the sprocket. Excessive sprocket wear can contribute to poor chain engagement, vibration and accelerated wear of the saw chain and guide bar.
For best performance, inspect your rim sprocket whenever replacing your saw chain and replace it when excessive wear is visible.
.404" OR 3/8" – CHECK BEFORE ORDERING
This sprocket is specifically designed for .404" pitch chainsaw chain.
Some chainsaw models listed above were available or may have been converted to different chain pitches, including 3/8".
A 3/8" chain cannot be used with a .404" drive sprocket. The pitch of the drive sprocket, chain and guide bar nose sprocket must all be compatible.
IMPORTANT FITMENT INFORMATION
Before ordering, check your existing rim sprocket and confirm:
• Pitch – .404"
• Tooth Count – 7 Tooth
• Spline – Standard 7 Spline (SD7)
• Cross Reference – Oregon 22270
Chainsaw models may have different clutch drums, sprocket configurations or chain pitches depending on model, year and previous modifications.
If you're unsure whether this rim sprocket suits your chainsaw, contact Longer Chainsaws with your chainsaw make and model before ordering.
